Passionate Developers

is a community trying to supply valueable information for developers, teams and managers on

Becoming, Creating, Staying, Managing, Hiring and Nurturing Passionate Developers.

When talking to developers and managers from all over the world at conferences or in active online communities there is always the reference to the team members who don't get it and stay behind. If you look at the numbers of developers engaged in user groups, conferences, open source projects, mailing lists and other developer communities, its always the same people that are enthusiastic and passionate about their work.

For most of you it is certainly enough to look at your own team or organisation to see these problems. And not all of us have are working at companies like ThoughtWorks? or Google that just hire the most able people. Or at small startups that provide the environment to be as passionate as possible.

So perhaps between 1 to 5 percent of the developer base are willing to hone their skills, expand their knowledge and constantly improve.
What shall we do about the rest. Ignore, fire or restrict them?

I don't want to let them stay behind. We're all together in this development to a professional craft. So let's bring together all the knowledge we have from the agile, craftsmanship, psychology, brain research, management, education communities and highlight the parts that can contribute to creating passionate developers.

This site is intended to collect information, knowledge, patterns, resources, quotes, articles, news?, books, and stories on how to become and stay a passionate developer. Brainstorming is the first step in gathering the information needed.

Feel free to contribute your opinions, experiences and resources in wiki pages or in the forums.
